A children’s community choir…

Upper Hunter Voices launched in 2022 by a group of active community members with a passion for creating opportunities for the children of the Upper Hunter through excellence in musical skills development and encouraging enhanced community engagement through music.

Singing is fun. Singing in a choir is even more fun!

Being a member of a choir enriches our social lives and educational development and builds long-lasting memories and friendships.  Choristers blend their voices with each other, learn together, share music experiences, sing in harmony and most importantly bring joy to others with their performances.  Choral singing develops social skills and empathy as well as many physical and mental skills such as heightened aural and physical awareness, articulation, imagination and engagement in history, language and stories.

Specialist Choral Director

Upper Hunter Voices is led by a highly experienced, specialist choral director, working with the choir to develop children’s choral skills and musical repertoire across diverse genres, cultures, and periods, as well as rehearsing them to perform at civic and community events and concerts.

Musical Talent and Equity Scholarships

Those children who are part of Upper Hunter Voices will also have an opportunity for a full Scholarship at Richard Gill School (an independent school with a musical focus). Two scholarships each year for the duration of the primary education of the student will be offered, providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds with demonstrated talent and aspirations who may not otherwise be able.

Performance Opportunities

Upper Hunter Voices train and rehearse to perform at civic and community events, local festivals, and scheduled concerts.
